With the recent news around what are considered essential items that can be purchased in the current Wales lock down it got me thinking. What has been essential recruitment for our clients?

So after looking at our last 6 months of data across all the specialist areas we cover (Finance & Accountancy, Supply Chain & Procurement, HR & Office Support, Sales & Marketing) this is what I have found.

Interestingly the trend has not changed or deviated over the last 6 months but has started to increase pace in some categories creating the kind of acute candidate shortages that we saw before COVID happened. The top ten job roles we are seeing demand for with our clients are as follows:

  1. Business Partner/Commercially focused Management Accountants
  2. Credit Controllers
  3. Specialist Buyers
  4. Senior Sales/Account Managers
  5. Demand Planners
  6. HR Business Partners
  7. Part Qualified Accountants in all disciplines
  8. Health & Safety executives
  9. Business Analysts
  10. Financial Accountants

Although not in the top ten we have also seen a rise in specific and strategic leadership roles. This seems to be based on a number of businesses with acquisitional growth plans, or simply due to the change in landscape and the requirement for new thinking.

Within all of these categories it is not unusual for the best candidates to end up with multiple offers or to be heavily countered by their current employer. Across the top 5 it is almost more unusual for the selected candidates not to have multiple offers. This has meant at Chase & Holland we have had to try and move processes along at pace with our clients to safeguard the client having the choice of the right candidates.
