Never Give Up
Over the last couple of weeks, I have listened to a podcast (The Knowledge Project) an interview with Bill Ackman – Getting Back Up. I have also watched a film called 50/50/50 which is a documentary film about James Lawrence completing 50 Ironman’s in 50 days in 50 states.
If you get a chance, either of these stories are worth your time as they are both inspiring stories about what is possible and it is fair to say carry the message of what can be achieved with determination. I remember a friend of mine in the past giving me possibly the best advice I ever got, “Keep picking yourself up and keep trying”. He did go on to expand this with a couple of rules, the first being learn from your mistakes each time and secondly, remain focused on your goal.
"Keep picking yourself up and keep trying"
I am certainly not going to compare myself to a Fund Manager who had grown a fund to several billion dollars or a man who has been able to do 50 Ironman events in 50 days, but the process of never giving up is something we have applied at Chase & Holland. In fact, over the years, it is the stories of those who have achieved great things that have inspired us to keep striving to be the best at what we do.
During the last 12 months, I think many people have done a great job of not giving up and for the most have been celebrated. However, I want to stick my neck out and say thank you to all of the people reading this article for helping with keeping your businesses going and finding ways of improving and developing it further through the last year.
Well done all of you for not giving up and let's all remain inspired by what is possible. I can honestly say that the last 12 months has made Chase & Holland a better business both internally and externally, as I believe is the case for many people I speak to.
My final thank you goes out to all the people who are part of the Chase & Holland family for never giving up and inspiring the business to be a better business over the last 12 months.
