Warehouse Manager – £44,000 + Benefits- Sheffield

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Warehouse Manager to join an established and successful business within the food ingredients sector. With a long-standing customer base and a strong reputation for service and quality, the business is looking for a hands-on leader to take ownership of its day-to-day warehouse operation and drive continued operational improvement.

This is more than a traditional Warehouse Manager position. You will lead a team of around 20 employees across goods-in, picking, packing, breakdown and despatch, taking a visible, floor-based approach to leadership and ensuring the operation runs efficiently, safely and in line with customer expectations.

As part of the Senior Management Team, you will have genuine responsibility for warehouse performance, stock accuracy, people management and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, developing their team and having a tangible impact on how a business operates.

We are looking for a proactive and commercially aware individual who can balance daily operational demands with longer-term improvements, lead by example and create a culture of accountability, collaboration and high standards.

Package & Benefits

  • Salary of £40,000 - £44,000, depending on experience

  • Company bonus and pension scheme
  • Health and wellbeing programme
  • Staff discount and free onsite parking
  • Ongoing training and career development opportunities
  • Senior Management Team exposure with the opportunity to influence operational performance

As Warehouse Manager, you will:

  • Lead the warehouse team from the floor, setting standards and driving daily performance across goods-in, picking, packing, breakdown and despatch.
  • Allocate labour and resources in response to changing order volumes, workloads and operational priorities.
  • Maintain stock accuracy, inventory control and daily compliance through effective use of the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
  • Ensure dispatch deadlines are achieved, supporting reliable next-working-day delivery commitments.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, attendance and employee relations, including formal investigations and disciplinary processes.
  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, balancing compliance with operational efficiency.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, system errors and equipment issues to minimise disruption.
  • Coach team leaders and warehouse operatives, encouraging accountability, initiative and effective decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, warehouse layouts, productivity and the use of technology.
  • Support site maintenance, facilities projects and commercial activities, including carrier and courier negotiations where required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience managing a warehouse team in a hands-on, operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse processes, including goods-in, picking, packing, stock control and despatch.
  • Experience managing labour, resource planning and daily operational targets.
  • Confident using warehouse management systems and IT to maintain inventory accuracy and compliance.
  • Practical experience of people management, including training, performance management and formal employee relations.
  • A sound understanding of warehouse health and safety.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to make decisions and resolve problems quickly.
  • A visible and approachable leadership style, with the confidence to set standards and hold people accountable.

Experience in process improvement, basic automation, facilities management, site maintenance or commercial procurement would be advantageous.
